Do not be afraid of the word "Concussion".
A person can suffer a Concussion from almost doing anything, even from sneezing.
The danger comes from not allowing the brain to heal fully before suffering another one.
The old term "you only got your bell rung, get back in there" is not appropriate in this day and age.  You wouldn't go back into the game and play with a broken leg or a half healed broken leg, you would let it heal fully before returning.  A player must approach a concussion in the same manner, let your brain fully heal before returning to the game!

As of July 1st 2013 the State of Michigan passed a Law that all youth sports programs must have on file the following:

The sports concussion legislation requires all coaches, employees, volunteers, and other adults involved with a youth athletic activity to complete a concussion awareness on-line training program.  The League must maintain a copy of the completion certificate.
Once a certificate is obtained it is good for life and all sports.  So if you complete the training for baseball its also good for football.

The organizing entity must provide educational materials on the signs/symptoms and consequences of concussions to each youth athlete and their parents/guardians and obtain a signed statement of acknowledging receipt of the information for the organizing entity to keep on record.

The law also requires immediate removal of an athlete from physical participation in an athletic activity who is suspected of sustaining a concussion. The student athlete must then receive written clearance from an appropriate health professional before he or she can return to physical activity.
